EMDR

What is EMDR?

Originally called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, EMDR was designed primarily for treating PTSD. This psychotherapy modality focuses on utilizing the brain’s natural ability to heal from traumatic experiences and move towards a healthy mental state. You can learn more about EMDR here.

How can EMDR help depression?

When it comes to depression, there are many possible contributing factors. Often, individuals who struggle with depression long-term will experience persistent negative core beliefs about themselves (such as “I am unlovable”, “I am a failure”, and “I can’t handle this”). EMDR can help find where this core belief started to form and allow you to transform that negative belief into a positive belief.
